\n\n<\/br>Despite numerous widespread movements around the world during the past few decades, the LGBT+ community still face discrimination in a society where heteronormativity rules as the authoritative discourse. Heterosexism is a system or culture based on a view that sees heterosexuality as the only right norm and therefore superior. This system has become the foundation of many societies, neglecting or marginalizing those who fall outside of the norm, even in our schools. Therefore, Table 1 of the 64th International Student Conference is fighting for a future where schools are a place that welcomes everyone regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity. Their proposal aims to be a recommendation of simple yet effective practices that can be applied into the current curriculum and schools\u2019 facilities, using the discretionary power that teachers have in primary education. When we are respectful of the differences among all of us, heterosexism will no longer exist.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\n\n\n\n<\/br>Table 2 decided to look at the rise of populism in liberal democracies. They identified that populism is a serious threat in many ways. Table 2 members assumed that the rise of populism happened because of globalization and the economic discontent of people. However, after conducting our research, we concluded that the economic situation in each western democracy is not as bad as people think and that there is a misperception of reality. Table 2 has come up with three policies to mitigate the misperception of people. The first policy deals with media literacy, the second one aims at creating dialogue between opposing groups in the society and the third one is an economic policy especially designed to tackle the income inequality specific to the United States.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

The essence of democracy insists that each member of civil society be given an opportunity to join this discussion. However, many governments fail to do so as seen by widespread voter apathy. Thus, our proposal to Japan\u2019s Cabinet Office focuses on increasing the active participation of the citizens by encouraging a greater investment in Japan\u2019s virtual democracy system. Based on Taiwan\u2019s system, their vision is a virtual democracy system which encourages finding consensus, creating civilized dialogue, and educating the general public. Most importantly, the ideas that rise from this system must directly impact the policy making process in order for this system to solidify its role in modern politics.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

Out of extensive research and numerous validations, they listed down five skills that are specific for Japan\u2019s education systems, namely (1) Communication with Others, (2) Creativity, (3) Confidence, (4) Critical Thinking, and (5) Logical Thinking. With these skills in mind, a \u2018Suggestions\u2019 booklet aimed at teachers that mainly talked about ways to teach these soft skills was drafted. Furthermore, from our research, they saw that teachers faced other problems, such as having no assessment for soft skills, or no set definitions. Thus, they also sent in a letter that addressed these problems to a MEXT representative.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

The topic of the table is complex and multidimensional as it affects human life on a global and individual level and it questions one\u2019s personal perception of religion and morality. Most importantly, Table 5\u2019s main goal was to find an adequate solution, a response which would deal with the problem in the long-term. What the members examined was peace education within the framework of citizenship education. Its promotion and implementation was regarded as an answer to the pending crisis, which humanity deals with in the 21st century. Table 6 first singled out Indonesia as the country with the largest potential of hosting Rohingya refugees, and suggested the policy proposal in which Japan and United States are taking the main part of providing an support for Indonesia, pointing out the short-term and long-term benefits for all three nations involved, from the diplomatic and economic aspects.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n
