At the request of Mr. Seishiro ETO, Chairman of both Committees, the President of the Global Peacebuilding Association of Japan explained the development of UN reform efforts carried out by Secretaries-General of the United Nations, Boutros Boutros-Ghali, Kofi Annan, Ban Ki-moon and António Guterres.
The Liberal Democratic Party of Japan is the ruling party headed by Mr. Shinzo Abe who is the President of the LDP and the Prime Minister of Japan. The Foreign Policy Research Committee was reconstituted in December 2017 with Mr. Seishiro ETO as its Chair and Mr. Yoshiaki HARADA, its Secretary-General. Mr. Seishiro ETO has also been appointed the President of the World Federation National Diet Committee and Mr. Haruhiko Nakagawa, the Secretary-General. The World Federation National Diet Committee was established in 1997 and has more than 100 members from Lower and Upper houses of the National Diet. They are making efforts to make the establishment of World Federation one of the diplomatic policy of Japan.
日本のとるべき外交戦略を与党の立場で考え、提言する自民党外交調査会が2017年 12月２２日、８年ぶりに再始動した。２００９年の野党転落に伴う組織改編で廃止されていたが、米トランプ政権との向き合い方や緊迫する北朝鮮情勢、中国の台頭など山積する外交課題に向き合うため、新体制のもと再始動することになった。この日の会合で、会長に衛藤征士郎・元防衛庁長官、幹事長に原田義昭・元衆院外務委員長が就いた。
